Teralyn (they/she) | Office Manager & Executive Assistant

Teralyn is a lifelong California resident whose roots grow from the soils of the American South. They hold an Associate’s in Social Sciences from Reedley College, where they were published in the campus literary magazine by professor nomination, and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara, where they conducted survey research on juveniles in the carceral system and ethnographic interviews on the experiences of Black women at different intersections of marginalization. Teralyn’s intellectual pursuits always focus on people and the systems of power that we exist under. She credits much of her ontology to the works of Black, Indigenous, and Third World feminists, with high regard for the thinkers of the Combahee River Collective, and values her lived experiences as a multiply-marginalized, poor, indigenous African American woman as indispensable to her passion for justice and social equality.

Teralyn comes to Pacific Pride Foundation with an eclectic working background ranging from behavioral wellness caregiving to public service with the City of Santa Barbara. They consider it a great honor to be able to serve the LGBTQ+ community in a professional capacity after many years loving and advocating for their community in a personal capacity.

Jenise (they/them/elle) | Programs Manager

Jenise “JT” has been a Central Coast resident for over 20 years, growing up in and then serving the community’s youth as a teacher and youth leader for over 10 years. Jenise graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and earned their master’s degree in Education. They began working in Special Education as a speech pathologist assistant in 2017 and continued on to serve as a classroom teacher and in an educational leadership capacity. Having navigated life as someone who didn’t always fit into society’s “boxes,” Jenise works to help others be and feel seen, whether that looks like creating drone-filmed virtual hikes for people who cannot get out into nature, or highlighting the nonbinary gender models of other cultures in educational settings. Jenise’s values and sense of equity is their drive to continue their work in racial and environmental justice.
