Kick Butt Tobacco Cessation Program

Our KICK BUTT Program is making enormous strides in the fight against the manipulation and exploitation of the LGBT community by the tobacco industry. Tobacco use among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals is a major health issue. A number of factors appear to contribute to increased rates of smoking within the LGBT community. These include higher stress levels, the centrality of bars as a social outlet, increased incidence of substance use, reduced access to health care and targeted marketing efforts by the tobacco industry.

To reduce the number of smokers in the LGBT Community, PPF offers tobacco cessation services to help current LGBT smokers to become nonsmokers.

Cessation Services

Cessation Services will address issues specific to LGBT smokers who are trying to quit smoking, as well as provide clear cessation guidelines. We offer the opportunity for individuals to learn how to apply coping skills that are unique for the LGBT community. The sessions will explore the roles of smoking as one’s identity (i.e. smoking to appear more masculine or feminine) and in dealing with the stress of living in a homophobic culture as a possible trigger or contexts for relapse.

Individual Programs

You can schedule a meeting with the tobacco prevention specialist to help create a program that works for you. We provide free tobacco replacement for all serious participants. If you would like to learn how to become smoke free then give us a call.
