All of you together raised over $103,500 at this year's Heart & Sole AIDS Walk with more pledges arriving daily. Over 650 walkers attended including 60+ AIDS Walk teams from all over Santa Barbara County and Ventura. We had over 70 wonderful volunteers working as AIDS Walk route monitors, setting-up, cheering and staffing the event. We had local dignitaries and leaders show-up supporting and walking.
Our theme this year was to keep the AIDS Walk simple and ask for as much help as possible. Doing an event of this size can be costly. This year we saved over $16,000 by not renting tents and stages, not producing Walker t-shirts, not buying T.V. and radio ads, printing fewer materials and so on. In the midst of these hard economic times for everyone, we set an AIDS Walk goal of $100,000 - far above previous years. At first this felt so impossible, and guess what? We are all reaching it and this is absolutely amazing!
With the good problem of so many attending AIDS Walk this year and our new reduced staffing levels, we have volunteers hard at work helping to add up all the team totals - thank you for your patience here and we'll have these results soon.
On behalf of our clients, our volunteers, Board of Director's and staff - THANK YOU EVERYONE SO VERY MUCH! Our community came together to support huge cuts to local HIV/AIDS programs and to help Pacific Pride Foundation continue to provide these vital services. This is our biggest AIDS Walk in several years and we are humbled and extremely grateful for everyone's heartfelt support.
